Every year, Cleveland Public Library conducts a reading program for youth during the summer. This year’s program titled, Summer Lit League, offers a fun mixture of world travel themed activities.

Week 1: SLL Kick-Off w/ Twister Girl! (Refreshments provided)

One Cle! Make Your Mark!: Inspired by British artist Yinka Shonibare, using West-African print fabric, create a book cover for your summer reading journal!

Week 2: Welcome to Eastern Europe 

Pajaki Party: Pajaki's are traditional polish straw and colorful paper chandeliers used to decorate houses during celebrations.  Create your own today!

Week 3: Explore Africa 

Gris Gris Good Luck Charm: A gris girs is a small good luck charm from West African. Inside of the gris gris is a small message for good luck. Create your own today!

            Stained Glass Pasta: Create your own stained glass window using dyed pasta!

Sticky-Note Pixel Art Mural: Call for young art enthusiasts to the library and create a mural using colorful sticky-notes!

            Make your Life A-Mazing: Create your own maze out of cardboard and straws!

Week 7:  Tour South Asia 

            Recycled Paper Creations: Use recycled newspaper to make your own creations!

            Wednesday July 18, 2018 @ 2 p.m.

Week 8:  Sail to Central & South America, ¡Bienvenido! 

Guatemalan Worry Doll: It is a Guatemalan legend, that when a child is worried or has a bad dream they can place the worry doll under their pillow and wake up free from their worry. Create your own today!

Cleveland Metroparks Presents Nature Tracks: Visit the library for a fun and informative presentation by the Cleveland Metroparks all about neighborhood animals. Afterwards, join us for Summer Lit League Week 7: Tour South Asia.
