Collinwood Area Safety Meeting

On January 31st The Collinwood Neighborhood Catholic Ministries (CNCM) and the Collinwood Area Pastoral Association (CAPA) sponsored a meeting to ask for assistance in creating a safer neighborhood for our residents.Approximately 20 people gathered in the Saint Mary Slovenian Room. As a result of the presentations offered by Ward 8 Councilman Michael Polensek and the 5th District Safety Liaison Greg Pollard, the group decided on the following action steps:

❖ A prayer walk for safety in our city, sponsored by the Salvation Army, to be held on Saturday, February 24th from 10:00 – 11:00.  It will begin at the Salvation Army located on Grovewood. All are encouraged to participate   ❖ A letter-writing campaign to Mayor Jackson requesting more police protection. A sub-committee drafted a sample letter which was sent to meeting participants, CAPA members and the CNCM Team. They are asked to make copies available to their congregations and constituents. ❖ Another meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 28th from 2:30 – 4:00.  It will be held in the Saint Mary Slovenian Room on Holmes. ❖ Encourage congregations and constituents to pray for peace and a de-escalation of violence in the neighborhood. ❖ Ask congregations to encourage younger members to consider law enforcement as a possible career
