Maxim's on the Move
Most will recall Maxim’s Pizza & Delicatessen located at the corner of East 185th & Cornwall Road from 1949 till 2004, when they relocated to 7710 Lake Shore Blvd. in Mentor. Well they’re on the move again, this time to 6966 Heisley Road in Mentor. The grand opening is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18th. Even though the founder and patriarch, Manny Berardinelli, Collinwood ’39, retired this January at the young age of 93, his son Gene and wife Kathy continue to man the helm. The Maxim name was taken from brother/uncle Joey Berardinelli’s fighting name of Joey Maxim, Light Heavyweight Champion of the World 1950 to 1952. Though the business has moved, you’ll usually still catch the family in the neighborhood either at Holy Redeemer for mass or Gus’s Diner on East 185th afterwards for breakfast.
