Waterloo Streetscape Grants

Waterloo is currently undergoing a major transformation through the streetscape. Alongside the construction the district's commercial businesses will be hosting a variety of free public events that will be occurring monthly in partnership with the Collinwood Rising Grant Program made possible by the generous support from the Kresge Foundation.

Starting on December 2nd, Jesse Rhinehart, a Cleveland-based artist, will paint a mural on the wall of the Callaloo Cafe located at 15601 Waterloo Rd. Rhinehart has been featured on the wall of the Cafe before, with his watercolor paintings of the Caribbean. The mural will be unveiled on December 20th when the Callaloo Cafe will host "A Caribbean Christmas". This event will run from 6:00pm to 11:00pm and  will also feature traditional Caribbean food as well as the Panic Steel Ensemble, that will perform throughout the evening.

Throughout 2014 and during the Waterloo Streetscape, Northeast Shores will be giving the businesses, nonprofits, and community groups of the Waterloo Arts and Entertainment District the opportunity to collaborate with artists to create transformative change in the neighborhood. Grants are awarded monthly and will incorporate a free event in the district.  For an application or for more information please contact Charlie Kamen at 216 481-7660 ext 31. Make sure to keep tuned in monthly in 2014 to join in the great events that will be taking place in the Waterloo District. In the meantime celebrate the holiday the Caribbean way at the Callaloo Cafe!
