Pastor Marcis to Celebrate 55 Years at SJN

Pastor Marcis with Mayor White

On April 12,1964 Pastor Walther Marcis was installed as Associate Pastor of St. John Nottingham Lutheran Church, Cleveland, Ohio. He has faithfully served St. John for over 50 years, preaching joyfully in both English and German and has held Ohio District positions as Circuit Counselor and Chairman of the Ohio District Ministerial Health Committee as well as numerous other positions in the Church. He has also served as Principal of our day school six times over the years!

Pastor remains happily married to Judy (Steller) since July 1961. They have four daughters and 10 grand-children. Pastor Marcis holds two Master's Degrees and a PhD in Counseling and Psychology and has also published two books i.e., “Working Your Way through Emotional Misery” and “Wedding, Funerals, and Strange Events”.

2019 marks Pastor Marcis's 55th anniversary as Pastor of SJN and spiritual leader of the school. He is still actively involved in both the direct instruction of religion and the weekly worship life of the students and has been a truly tireless champion for Christian education in the greater Cleveland area. He also serves as a Police Chaplain. Frankly, it's a mystery where he finds the time to do everything he does and wear every hat he wears!

Congratualtions to Pastor Marcis on this milestone in his ministry!

Principal of St. John Nottingham Lutheran School
