Three Days of Dancing at the Thanksgiving Polka Weekend

It’s a squeezebox celebration with accordion music all the time at the Polka Hall of Fame’s 56th annual Thanksgiving Polka Party Weekend, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 28, 29 and 30, 2019. Thrill to polka music’s grandest festival as the Downtown Cleveland Marriott Hotel becomes Polka Central with the Cleveland Style’s finest entertainers. The curtain rises on the 2019 Awards Show, polka music’s red-carpet event in the Grand Ballroom on Saturday, November 30, at 2:00 p.m.

Sixteen Cleveland-Style and Slovenian-Style orchestras and entertainers are scheduled each day in three hotel locations. The Friday evening button box jam session brings together as many as fifty accordions on the main stage with Canada’s Polka King Walter Ostanek giving the downbeat. At the Polka Music Awards Show gala, Tom Mroczka leads the polka all-star stage orchestra with featured performances by TV’s Alex Meixner and Nashville’s LynnMarie and E3. There’s also a special tribute to the late polka personality Tony Petkovsek, who hosted the festival since 1963. Kathy Hlad and friends perform for the Polka Mass right after the Show.

The line-up includes Klancnik and Friends (2018 Band of the Year), Aaron Dussing’s Polka Revolution, Linda Lee Brown, Fritz’s Polka Band, the Don Wojtila Orchestra, the Fairport Jammers, the Harmonia Balkan Music Review, the KTB Band and the Frank Stanger Orchestra.  Walter Ostanek and Nashville’s Joey Miskulin also join the fun.
