This Month’s Program Highlights features:

Collinwood’s Back To School Event

In partnership with Kiwanis, Collinwood/Nottingham Village CDC, got Knack?, and the “Hero Within You Network”, the Branch held our annual Collinwood Community Youth Academy (CCYA) “Back To School” event on Saturday, August 11th.  Children and adults participated in creative activities such as designing t-shirts based on their favorite book or literature character by “Hero Within” Director, Teresha Sims. They shared their talents with “Collinwood got Knack?” talent performances with Creator, Donesha Jones who also donated school supplies. A scavenger hunt designed to discover new things about the library was facilitated by Children’s librarian, Adam Tully.  Manager and founder of the program, Caroline Peak, stopped in on her day off to support the program; in addition many thanks to Kiaira Jefferson, Branch Youth Services staff, Kristian Hunter for her organizational help and Peggy Kearsey for help with signing in children, both from Collinwood/Nottingham Development Corporation. Twenty Five bags of schools supplies were given to school aged children attending the program.  Free books donated by Bernie Walsh on behalf to the Kiwanis were also distributed to all in attendance.
