Forest City Volunteers Dedicate Time to Helping Hospice of the Western Reserve

For several years, employees from Forest City have generously donated many hours of their time and talent to complete a variety of volunteer projects at Hospice of the Western Reserve. The volunteer projects are part of the organization’s annual Community Day and provide a way to give back to the local community. 

This year, on May 18, a hardworking group of approximately 100 Forest City employees split up into two groups and arrived bright and early to get started.  One group painted the annex of a storage building at the Hospice of the Western Reserve’s headquarters site while a second group of 67 mulched beds and landscaped the entire 22 acres on the grounds of David Simpson Hospice house and the adjacent lakefront property.

They planted a garden and installed donated perennials and a birdbath on the northwestern end of the property.  Hospice of the Western Reserve installed a plaque in the garden honoring the Forest City volunteers and the many other volunteer groups from the community who have contributed hundreds of hours of volunteer service through the years.

Several Forest City volunteers worked inside David Simpson Hospice House, stripping wallpaper from the playroom and painting an office.

“Hospice of the Western Reserve is grateful for the generous volunteer support Forest City and other organizations provide,” said Steve DiMare, Facilities Management Team Leader. “Our resources are directed towards patient care, so we would not otherwise be able to provide the beautiful parklike setting we maintain for the Collinwood neighborhood without their time and talent. Their contributions are a true gift, not only for the families we care for, but for the entire community.”
