If you want to feel good about the future of our community, just visit any Euclid Chamber of Commerce event or stop by their May 22 open house, celebrating their new office space at The Green House on Lakeshore Blvd.

The energy and enthusiasm of the Euclid business community is contagious, and many of the Chamber’s business members and its board of directors have been staunch advocates for our lakefront city for decades, including executive director, Sheila Gibbons. Gibbons has been a partner to Euclid businesses, large and small, since 2008, and July will mark her tenth year serving in this role. Gibbons has spent most of that time planning alongside city leaders and community stakeholders for a new phase of growth and revitalization in Euclid, and now she looks forward to expanding access to Chamber services with a welcoming, centrally-located office.

"When we were given the opportunity to move to The Green House, we knew it would be a perfect fit for us,” says Gibbons. “An important part of our mission is to provide resources to entrepreneurs, and what better place to offer our services than in a shared workspace environment? We have been here for a couple months now and are so happy with our decision. We have offered a couple workshops here already and plan to offer many more."

No matter how much we depend on email, the internet and social media for communication and information sharing, nothing can ever replace the value of one-to-one interaction and relationships — which Gibbons and The Green House count as their greatest asset to Euclid residents and business owners.

Cleveland business owner Tina Rice, president of Rice Communications, credits the power of networking during the Euclid Chamber of Commerce annual awards dinner for leading her to the new community she has found at The Green House. “I went from working out of my family room to working in a beautiful space with like-minded professionals and amenities similar to a traditional office,” she says. In addition to its co-working space, The Green House also offers a private conference for business meetings and larger facilities for workshops, group events and training courses.

The Euclid Chamber of Commerce’s networking events, workshops and membership are open to everyone regardless of business location — and you don’t actually have to own a business to participate in many of them. Their workshops and mentoring programs are a cost-effective way for entrepreneurs and start-ups to get professional support during the early stages of business. After attending a free Small Business Finance workshop, Angela Chambers, a Good Cause Creative partner who also works at the Green House, felt that "the accountant leading the workshop made complex tax policies easy to understand for those who weren’t educated in this field” and the information helped clarify some long-standing confusion around common bookkeeping challenges.

At 8:30 a.m. May 9, the Chamber of Commerce will team up with Euclid Public Library to offer the annual Small Business Breakfast. Attendees of this free event will receive a lot of valuable information on resources and funding available to small businesses at any stage, from start-up to an established business. Curious about the Euclid Chamber or want to check out our new office and The Green House? Sign up for our free Coffee Connections open house from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. May 22.
