Girl's Rock/Girl's Assembly

Girls Rock/Girl's Assembly is a mentoring and role model program for grades 6-8.  This program is to improve each scholar's character, reduce the number of discipline referrals, and improve their academic performance.  To achieve these achievements,, scholars will develop a better understanding of their role and responsibility in their own female development.  Understanding their roles of being productive, respectable, and positive is essential to the way of life today.  Lastly, developing strategies for avoiding peer pressure and negative influences at school, at home, and in their community is also incorporated.

This year we attended an Debutante Ball in Columbus, Ohio.  The young ladies dressed in all white and had dinner and met the winner of the Queen who ran for Miss Debutante.  The young ladies had a big dance, that showed unity and love among other young ladies that were a part of the Girls Rock/Girls Assembly, from all over the State of Ohio.  We ended with a movie called " The Miracle Season."  We enjoyed breaking bread together and laughing all evening. This is our 3rd year of the progam and it has grown from 8 young ladies to 20.
