A Parent's Perspective: The Salvation Army’s Learning Zone

The Salvation Army has been an inspiration to not only the needy, but also our children here in Collinwood. Their excellent mission is to provide meaningful afterschool activities and intervention, supporting academic, emotional, social and spiritual growth of children and their families.

They have a broad array of enrichment activities that complement their regular academic programs; and they provide the children a safe place to be cared for after school ends. There are always hot meals and snacks provided as well as arts, crafts, and recreation.

The Salvation Army’s Learning Zone’s number one goal is to provide homework help and assistance in preparing for tests.  Tutoring is also provided in the areas of curriculum that are most challenging. The children have hands on experiences with learning materials.

I will assure you, I have full trust in them considering my daughter has been going there since she was in pre-school.  They have been picking her up from OH Perry and she really enjoys going there. There were times when she was having such a good time, she didn’t want to leave. She loves it!

The staff at The Salvation Army is so supportive and understanding. It is like a home or family outside our home. I recommend taking kids there. I guarantee, you will not be disappointed!
