CNCM offers Summer Programs and Classes

Cooking with Kids ages 8-12, painting and crocheting classes for adults, special sessions on bereavement and loss, making the changes you want in your life are among the classes on the summer schedule offered by the staff at the Collinwood Neighborhood Catholic Ministries house, 15706 St. Clair Ave.

In addition,  a “Spa Day for your Face” with a Mary Kay Cosmetics representative will be scheduled and a Cancer Survivors’ Support Group will be initiated at the request of some of the neighbors. The year-round  Doula Program for pregnant women, which provides support for doctor visits, labor and delivery, continues under the direction of Sr. Mary Ellen Brinovec, OSU.

Saturdays, June 21, July 26, and August 16, 10 am to 1 pm are the scheduled cooking classes and parents of the children are welcome. The painting classes will be held on Saturday, June 14 and 28 from 10 am to noon. Doug Rothschild and Bill Denihan, instructors. Nautica Pasley’s picture was chosen “painting of the month” by the Saturday art class.

“Is Change Needed in your Life? Take the first step and come on Tuesday, June 3, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm for a FREE group session with experienced counselors.

The knitting and crocheting group meets every Friday from 2 pm to 4 pm.  “Come along  to meet new friends while you make scarves and lap quilts for those in need,” explained Sr. Felicia Petruziello, CSJ, the organizer of the group.

Antoinette Robinson, a volunteer and participant,  described "the very energetic group of ladies who crochet prayer shawls and sew lap blankets for the neighborhood nursing homes and the artistic group who comes on Saturday."  

"Come and enjoy and learn new things and be of help,"  encouraged Rashonda Lewis, a weekly painting group participant.
