Taste the Neighborhood

Taste the Neighborhood, the annual Fundraiser for Northeast Shores Development Corporation was held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. It was a wonderful opportunity for neighbors, businesses, and organizations to come together to enjoy delicious food and to celebrate the accomplishments of our awardees. We would like to thank the many restaurants that generously provided a taste for our enjoyment. Samples came from all over the neighborhood; Gus’s Diner, Chili Peppers, Scotti’s, The Beachland, Muldoon’s, Gostilna at Knezak, Grovewood Tavern, V’s Chicken, Congin’s Pizza, Georgio’s Pizza, and the Lithuanian Club which was also our host for the evening. Two of the newest additions to the list of fine restaurants our neighborhood has to offer, The Standard and Lebaron’s Cuisine were in attendance giving us a sample of their menu’s tasty offerings. Our sweet tooth was satisfied with treats from Archie’s Bakery, Cakes by Sweetwater, and Dave’s Supermarket. We tasted wine from Bari Beauty and Health and enjoyed soda provided by the East 200th Street Convenient Food Mart.

In addition to great food, there was also great entertainment. Our thanks go out to John Copic who was the DJ for the evening, and kept us entertained with music from many different genres. We heard R&B, Rock and Roll, Polka and a little Hip Hop. There was something for every musical taste.

We were pleased to present awards to individuals and organizations that made an impact on our community in 2013. Recipients of this year’s awards are; The Standard - Business of the Year, Nan Kennedy - Resident of the Year, Northeast Ohio Region Sewer District – Investment of the Year, The East Shore Park Association - Block Club of the Year, and Coach John Storey was inducted into the Collinwood Hall of Fame. Congratulations and thanks to you all for improving the quality of life in our neighborhood.

After eating the wonderful food and celebrating our award recipients, we all got our tickets out and waited to hear our numbers called to win one of the many baskets that were donated by our friends and community partners. Thanks to all who donated baskets and items for our raffle, it was one of the highlights of the evening. And last but not least, we would like to thank the students from VASJ for all of their help from start to finish. They did an excellent job making sure the event ran smoothly.

Again, thanks to all who participated in making Taste the Neighborhood 2014 a great success. And all who were in attendance. See you next year!
