FISH FRY

Another Lenten season is here.  Not only during Lent, but every Friday throughout the year the Kitchen Angels of Slovenian Workmen's Home hold the best little fish fry in town.  They do take a couple of well-deserved Fridays off during the holidays.

On the menu is fish that is breaded by the Kitchen Angels and then deep fried.  The baked fish is said to be so delicious as well.  You also have a choice of shrimp that is breaded and deep fried, breaded pork chops or goulash.  Side dishes are coleslaw that is shredded in house and mixed with the special house dressing, applesauce, Slovenian home fries, french fries, polenta, cabbage & noodles and macaroni & cheese.  On the children's menu are chicken tenders or hot dog served with a side dish.  There is always apple strudel that is freshly baked and sometimes cheese and cherry are available.

The Kitchen Angels are under the leadership of President June Slapnik, who does a terrific job.  A few members have had to resign for health reasons, but luckily, a few replacement volunteers have been recruited.  Several of the Kitchen Anges have been volunteers at Slovenian Workmen's Home for over 30 years.

Button box players are sometimes in attendance and play for your enjoyment.  Some Fridays the four indoor balina courts are available for play at a minimal cost.  You do have to call 216-481-5378 to reserve a court.  The full cash bar is also available.

Slovenian Workmen's Home is located in the Waterloo Arts District at 15335 Waterloo Road, Cleveland 44110.  To place a takeout order, make reservations for eight or more or for additional information, please call 216-481-5378.  The Waterloo Road construction continues, but there is plenty of parking in the two lots and on the north side of the street.
