Hello, North Collinwood!
Jack Storey
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Jack Storey, and I am currently serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA – Volunteer in Service to America – at Northeast Shores Development Corporation. While the AmeriCorps is a national organization, my roots are right here in this community.
Nearly my entire Irish Catholic family grew up on these streets; I spent a large portion of my formative years with my grandmother at her home on East Park Drive. My Uncle Kevin Storey was co-owner of Muldoon’s until he passed in 1992; my father has co-owned Trade Winds Lounge on 200th since 1983; and many of you know my Uncle John, better known as Coach Storey of the VASJ Vikings.
When I returned to Cleveland from obtaining my graduate degree in Winter Park, Florida, I ran right back to North Collinwood. I love this neighborhood, I love the people, and I love the potential. I have had the good fortune to travel this country extensively, and I can honestly say that there’s no place quite like North Collinwood. Though we’ve had our ups and downs in this town, I am extremely proud to call myself a resident and an active member of this amazing community.
I’m looking forward to working closely over the next year with Northeast Shores and all of you to help ensure that our neighborhood is getting what it needs. But rest assured, my commitment to this neighborhood didn’t start, nor will it end, with this year of service. Regardless of where I may lay my head in the future, North Collinwood will always be my home.
